Summer Scripture Seminar

Where Scholarship, Spirituality and Ministry Converge

Faculty

Each year, the Summer Scripture Seminar assembles a faculty from among the best biblical exegetes and theologians to lead the program.  Faculty are drawn from USML, the several theological faculties in Chicago and from universities across the USA.  When you attend the Summer Scripture Seminar, you will hear from scholars who literally “wrote the book” on contemporary scholarship.  In the coming seminar, we welcome the following scholars as presenters.

Fr. Daniel Harrington, S.J., Ph.D.

Chair, Biblical Studies Department, Weston Jesuit School of Theology.  Author of numerous books including What Are They Saying About the Letter to the Hebrews? and How do Catholics Read the Bible?

Dr. Margaret Mitchell, Ph.D.

Professor of New Testament  at the   University of Chicago Divinity School, author of The Rhetoric of Reconciliation: An Exegetical Investigation of Language and Composition of 1 Corinthians and The Heavenly Trumpet: John Chrysostom and the Art of Pauline Interpretation.

Dr. Urban von Wahlde, Ph.D.

Theology Professor, Loyola University, author of The Earliest Version of John’s Gospel and The Johannine Commandments: 1 John and the Struggle for the Johannine Tradition.
